Leaks Show Details of Next-Generation Redmi — Note 5

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has managed to make one of the best-selling smartphones. But the next iteration of the Redmi Note that is reported to be officially announced sometime later this summer is going to be yet another all-round fantastic smartphone. We have collected all the rumors and details on Xiaomi's upcoming handset.

Xiaomi does not like to change the appearance of its gadgets drastically. The new Redmi Note 5 will most likely follow closely to the design established by the Redmi Note 4. Thus it will be wrapped in a metal housing, have 2.5D protective screen glass and small bezels around the display. There will probably be a few standard color options, like gray, gold or black.

Redmi Note 4 had some impressive performance, but Redmi Note 5 will strengthen Xiaomi's reputation with its even more spectacular performance. Qualcomm’s top-rated Snapdragon 630 chip will be built on the 14nm FinFET manufacturing instead of 28nm process and will be joined by 3/4GB of dual-channel DDR4X RAM. The smartphone will sport an Adreno 508 graphics card, which will give Xiaomi’s fifth generation Redmi smartphone a 25% graphics boost over its predecessor. Redmi Note 5 is said to arrive with the latest Android software available — Android 7.7.1 and MIUI 9 update.

Xiaomi’s new smartphone will also feature a  5.5-inch FHD screen with a 1080p resolution. Although the company has already jumped on the QHD bandwagon with a few flagships, it is good to know that the upcoming low-cost handset will sport a beautiful screen with a front fingerprint scanner, by the way. 2.5D glass will be also present.

Xiaomi and photography have a long history together. The company has been criticized in the past for not bringing any innovation in this area. But Redmi Note 5 will deliver a great pair of sensors. On the rear, you get the 16MP Sony Exmor sensor that will have one of the highest counts on the market and will be much better than the previous generation shooting in low light. On the front of the smartphone there will be a 13MP selfie shooter to make your face picture all the more spectacular.

Compared to Redmi Note 4 the newer iteration looks like it is going to be a downgrade in the battery department. The former sports a 4100 mAh tank while Redmi Note 5 is said to pack a 3790 mAh battery. However, the processing chip inside the Redmi Note 5 will be newer and much more power-efficient, so we think it will not have many struggles to last a single day without a recharge.

On top of that, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will have some of the features flagships have today as Quick Charge 4.0 technology, USB-C 3.1 and Bluetooth 5.
