Xiaomi is making bold strides in the electric vehicle market and is preparing to unveil its latest innovation - the YU7 electric SUV. The new model is expected to be launched in the summer of 2025.
Design and technical features
The YU7 is an all-electric SUV designed to echo the aesthetics of Xiaomi's first electric sedan, the SU7. The upcoming model features a dual-motor setup - front and rear - with a combined power output of 508 kW, enabling a top speed of 253 km/h.
Xiaomi has partnered with Chinese battery manufacturer CATL, a global leader in the industry, to produce cutting-edge battery technology for the YU7. This collaboration ensures that the new SUV will be highly competitive in China's rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.
Plans and production
The official unveiling of the YU7 is scheduled for summer 2025, as confirmed by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in a recent post on Weibo. To ensure a smooth launch, Xiaomi has already applied for the necessary sales licence, allowing for thorough testing of the vehicle's key features.
Production of the YU7 will take place at Xiaomi's new F2 factory, which is currently under construction. The facility is expected to be completed within 11 months, in time for the vehicle's launch. Xiaomi's existing factory is already operating at full capacity, making the additional facility a critical step to meet demand.
The YU7 will be Xiaomi's second electric vehicle, following the successful launch of the SU7 sedan, which received critical acclaim and strong sales in the Chinese market.
