The Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch HD+ display in an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is bright and has decent legibility under bright sunlight. The screen is paired with fair viewing angles that aid a better visual experience.

Interestingly, Xiaomi decided to go with a MediaTek Helio P22 chip, which features an octa-core 2 GHz CPU.

Storage options include a 3 GB + 32 GB and a 4 GB + 64 GB option, and you can use a microSD card (up to 256 GB).

The Redmi 6 features a dual camera on the rear

Cameras include a 12 MP + 5 MP dual camera on the rear and a 5 MP unit on the front.

Instead of dual imaging sensors, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 comes with a 12MP + 5MP AI dual rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The primary imaging sensor can also be used to shoot images and videos in dark conditions as there is an LED flash for support.

AI face recognition

A fingerprint scanner is on the rear, though an “AI face unlock” feature is supported via the front camera as well. The screen lights up when you pick up the phone, which apparently helps improve the speed of the unlock process.

The mobile phone becomes your personal assistant

The company is also advertising their Xiao AI voice assistant feature, which is integrated directly into the camera to recognize plants, vehicles, living environments, as well as items for price comparison.

The phone is running MIUI 9, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and includes a 3,000 mAh battery.

For connectivity, you get options like VoLTE, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and a micro USB 2.0 port.
