Camping mats — inflatable, self-inflating and foam sleeping pads.
A camping mat provides comfort and insulation from the cold ground, which is essential for a good night's sleep outdoors. Inflatable mats are light and pack small, which suits backpacking, while self-inflating mats combine foam and air for comfort and insulation and closed-cell foam mats are cheap, durable and cannot puncture. The R-value measures insulation, and higher values are needed for cold weather camping. Check the weight, packed size, thickness and R-value before ordering. Mats with built-in pillows add comfort. Double mats suit couples. Repair kits fix punctures on inflatable mats.
