Sensor modules let Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi projects measure and react to the world around them, such as temperature, humidity, motion, distance, light, gas, sound and soil moisture. They come on small boards with the supporting components already fitted, so they are ready to connect with jumper wires. Popular sensors include DHT11 and DHT22 for temperature and humidity, HC-SR04 for ultrasonic distance, HC-SR501 for motion and MQ-series for gas. Check the operating voltage, interface (analogue, digital, I2C or SPI) and compatibility with your board before ordering. Sensor kits are a good choice for beginners and schools.
