Macro extension tubes fit between the camera body and the lens, which moves the lens further from the sensor and lets it focus much closer. This creates high-magnification macro photos of insects, flowers, jewellery and textures at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated macro lens. Tubes with electronic contacts keep autofocus and aperture control, while manual tubes are cheaper but need manual focus and aperture settings. Check that the tubes match your camera mount, such as Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E or Fujifilm X. Sets usually include several lengths that can be combined for different magnifications.
