Lens hoods — petal, round and rubber hoods matched by filter size or lens model.
A lens hood blocks stray light that hits the front of the lens from the side, which reduces flare, haze and loss of contrast in bright conditions and when shooting near the sun or bright lights. It also protects the front of the lens from bumps, fingerprints and rain. Petal hoods suit wide and zoom lenses, round hoods suit telephoto lenses and rubber hoods fold back for storage. Check that the hood matches your lens model or filter thread size, as the wrong hood can cause dark corners. Reversible hoods mount backwards on the lens for compact storage.
