Galaxy Z Series Parts: Screens, Hinges and Housings for Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip

Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip foldables are the most complex and expensive Samsung phones to repair. Their folding design adds parts that ordinary phones do not have, and inner screen repairs require experience and careful handling.

Inner and outer screens

Each foldable has two displays. The inner folding screen is a flexible AMOLED panel with a factory-applied protective layer; it is the most expensive part and the most common reason for repair, due to creases, lines, dead areas or damage at the fold. The outer cover screen is a conventional display that can crack like any phone screen. Replacing the inner screen requires disassembling much of the phone and working carefully around the hinge.

Parts specific to foldables

  • Hinge assemblies: fix loose, stiff or noisy hinges and gaps between halves.
  • Flex cables crossing the hinge: connect the two halves and can wear with repeated folding.
  • Middle frames and housings for each half.
  • Cover screen glass and back glass.
  • Charging port boards, cameras, speakers and side keys, which also differ from standard phones.

Model matching

Each generation of Z Fold and Z Flip differs in screen size, hinge design and internal layout. Z Flip 3 and Z Flip 4, for example, look similar but use different parts. Check the model number in Settings, About phone, and match it to the part listing.

Repair tips

  • Never apply heat directly to the folding screen; use controlled, low heat and avoid bending the panel.
  • Do not remove the factory protective layer on the inner screen unless it is being replaced.
  • Keep flex cables across the hinge free of tension during reassembly.
  • Test folding, touch over the whole inner screen and the outer screen before final sealing.

Because Z series repairs are complex, many shops refer them to their most experienced technicians. Clear communication with customers about repair costs and part quality is particularly important for these high-value devices.
