Skeleton housings have open sides, which allow better audio recording and access to the charging port and memory card while the camera is in the housing. This makes them useful for vehicle mounting, time-lapses and filming where sound quality matters, and for long recording sessions with external power. They are not waterproof, so they are not suitable for water sports. Check that the housing is made for your GoPro model.
