Mountaineering and climbing gear keeps climbers safe on rocks, mountains, ice and ropes courses. Carabiners connect ropes, harnesses and anchors, and locking carabiners prevent accidental opening. Harnesses attach the climber to the rope, ropes catch falls and belay devices control the rope. Helmets protect against falling rocks and impacts. Check the safety certification (such as CE or UIAA), strength rating and size before ordering, and only use certified gear for climbing. Non-rated carabiners are fine for keys and gear but never for climbing. Learn proper techniques from qualified instructors. Inspect gear regularly and replace it after heavy falls.
