HP laptops use several charger types: the blue tip (4.5 mm), black tip (7.4 mm) and USB-C on newer models. The blue and black tips have a centre pin that identifies the charger to the laptop, so a damaged pin or non-compatible charger may cause warnings or slow charging. Check the connector type, voltage (usually 19.5 V) and wattage (45 W, 65 W, 90 W or more) printed on your original charger or laptop label before ordering. Gaming laptops such as Omen need higher-wattage chargers. A spare charger is useful for office and travel, and it saves wear on the original charger cable.
