Emergency escape hammers with seatbelt cutters for breaking side windows in emergencies.
Emergency escape hammers break side windows and cut seatbelts in an emergency, such as after an accident, when the car is submerged in water or when doors are jammed. Every car should have one within reach of the driver. Many hammers include a seatbelt cutter, a torch and a mount that holds them in an accessible place. Note that most hammers work on side windows but not on laminated windscreens, and some newer cars use laminated side windows too. Check the mounting method and features before ordering. Keep the hammer in a fixed position near the driver, not in the glovebox. They make useful gifts for new drivers.
