Audio crossovers split the audio signal into frequency ranges and send low frequencies to the woofer, mid frequencies to the midrange speaker and high frequencies to the tweeter, which improves sound clarity and protects speakers from damage. They are essential for building multi-way speakers and are also used for repairing and upgrading existing speakers. Two-way crossovers suit woofer and tweeter setups, while three-way crossovers add a midrange.
