LCD Drawing Boards: Paperless Writing Tablets for Children, Notes and Messages
LCD drawing boards, also called writing tablets, let you write and draw with a stylus on a pressure-sensitive screen, then erase everything with one button. They are paperless, reusable and popular with children, students and adults for notes and messages. This category covers LCD drawing boards and accessories.
How LCD drawing boards work
Pressure from the stylus changes the liquid crystal layer, creating a line. Pressing the erase button clears the screen. A small battery powers the erase function and lasts a long time.
Uses
- Children: drawing, practising letters and numbers, playing games, without paper waste or mess.
- Students: maths calculations and quick notes.
- Home and office: shopping lists, messages and reminders.
- Travel: entertaining children in cars and planes.
Features to compare
- Screen size: from around 8.5 inches to 15 inches or more.
- Colour display: single colour or multicolour lines.
- Lock button: prevents accidental erasing.
- Partial erasing: some models allow erasing parts of the drawing.
- Battery: replaceable or rechargeable.
- Durability: sturdy designs suit young children.
Difference from graphics tablets
LCD drawing boards do not save drawings or connect to computers. Graphics tablets, used for digital art and design, connect to computers and require software.
Accessories
Spare styluses, cases and batteries keep boards ready to use.
Benefits
Drawing boards save paper, reduce mess and are portable. They are a screen-free alternative to tablets for young children.
Practical tips
Keep the stylus attached to avoid losing it. Avoid sharp objects that could damage the screen.
For classrooms
Teachers use LCD boards for quick quizzes and practice, as students can show answers and then erase them for the next question.
Choosing for young children
For toddlers, choose boards with a lock button and a stylus attached by a cord, so the drawing is not erased accidentally and the stylus is not lost.
LCD drawing boards are a fun, practical and eco-friendly writing tool.
