Dome cameras mount on ceilings and have a rounded, discreet shape that blends into shops, offices, restaurants, hotels, schools and homes. The dome cover makes it hard to see which direction the camera is pointing, which helps deter intruders and shoplifters. Vandal-resistant domes with IK10 ratings survive impacts in public areas and car parks. Check the resolution, lens angle, night vision, connection type (PoE, analogue or Wi-Fi) and whether the camera is for indoor or outdoor use before ordering. Turret cameras look similar but avoid IR reflection from the dome cover at night. Built-in microphones on some models record audio where legal. PoE models need only one cable for power and data, which makes installation neat.
