LED Strips: Waterproof, Epoxy, Bare Board, Meteor and LED Module Lights

LED strips are flexible lighting used for decorative, accent and functional lighting in homes, shops, vehicles and signs. They are installed under cabinets, behind TVs, along stairs, in coves and outdoors. This category covers casing waterproof lights, epoxy waterproof lights, bare board lights, meteor lights and LED module lights.

Types of LED strips

  • Bare board strips (IP20): for dry indoor areas, such as under cabinets and behind TVs.
  • Epoxy waterproof strips (IP65): coated with silicone or epoxy for splash protection, suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Casing waterproof strips (IP67 or IP68): enclosed in a tube for outdoor and wet areas.
  • Meteor lights: create falling or shooting light effects for decoration.
  • LED modules: small units used in signs and lightboxes.

Key specifications

  • Voltage: 5 V, 12 V or 24 V. Higher voltages allow longer runs with less voltage drop.
  • LED density: more LEDs per metre give smoother, more even light.
  • Colour: single colour, RGB (changing colours) or RGBW (colours plus white).
  • Addressable strips: each LED can be controlled individually for effects.
  • Brightness: lumens per metre.

Power supplies and controllers

LED strips need power supplies matching their voltage, with enough wattage for the total length, plus a margin. Controllers adjust brightness, colour and effects through remotes or apps.

Installation

Clean surfaces before applying adhesive. Aluminium channels improve heat dissipation and create a neat finish. Use connectors or soldering to join strips. Avoid bending strips sharply.

Voltage drop

Long runs can become dimmer at the far end. Feed power at both ends or in the middle for long installations.

Practical tips

  • Choose IP ratings for the location.
  • Use aluminium channels for heat and diffusion.
  • Size power supplies with a margin.
  • Measure before cutting at marked points.

LED strips add flexible, energy-efficient lighting to almost any space.
